HISTORICAL SITES IN SUMBAWA

1.SAMPAR TOMB
Located not far from the town of Sumbawa, about 1 km east of the workshops.
With hill climbing as high as 100 m from the Ai-awak and Keban seketeng-Lapan village, Sumbawa Besar, we will immediately arrive at the front gate of the location of graveyard Graveyard pestilence.
The site is called the Tomb of plague, because it is located on top of pestilence (land on the hill).
Deliberately placed on the hill following the tradition of the ancestors who usually make
Graveyard / cemetery on the hill. Somewhat different from the surrounding graves because of this plague are buried tombs of the kings of Sumbawa with older relatives experts.
Despite its location on the hill, but not higher than the tombs of ordinary people around him. And even still there are the tombs of ordinary people who are higher than the tomb itself pestilence. Tomb pestilence surrounded by stones arranged such a way like a wall with  a height 1 m that limit it to ordinary community cemetery.
Who are the names of kings who were buried in the tomb of Sumbawa pestilence can not be demonstrated with certainty because there are no specific signs are posted at each cemetery. This occurred on the grounds that Islam does not permit the cult of the grave.
Now this plague Mausoleum on the east side of Bukit Permai housing has been built, so the easier we visited the Tomb of pestilence. To visit, we can be guided by an interpreter who mantain it, Ahmad Yani who lived in Keban Lapan Seketeng Sumbawa.

2. TOMB KARONGKENG

Karongkeng is a village 6 km from the subdistrict capital Empang. Empang (107 km from Sumbawa Besar). To visit the tomb karongkeng Cidomo (cart) we can use vehicles, motorcycles or cars because of the way pretty good. Through lane road from Empang subdistrict, before entering the village there is ascent karongkeng long as 50 m. at the end of the hill right next to the tomb Karongkeng visible signage. Entering the tomb area was cool as it is located in lush tamarind tree leaves nearby.
To obtain further information and explanations, there are interpreters maintained that he lived not far from the tomb in the village named karongkeng Ipok (Fatimah) They are descendants of former interpreter pet cemetery. 3.AI RENUNG

Site “Ai Renung” (Water of Kapok)  is the first site found in the regency of Sumbawa. The inventor is Dinullah Rayes of cabin culture district of Sumbawa in 1971 along with Drs. Made Purusa from Denpasar and the Archaeological Institute of Archaeology experts from the national center to do research first. In the first study found only three of the sarcophagus, then after sustainable reseach, until this time have found seven pieces sarkopagus (grave stone).
Called Ai renung Because it is located around the rice fields near the village of Ai Renung (that time). All locations are in rural areas  of Batu Tering -Moyohulu Sub-District
After restoration, the site of Ai-Renung can actually be made in cultural attractions. But due to not facilitated with highway construction to the location of the site, then the object becomes less visited.
But not infrequently also the students and foreign researchers came to the Ai-Renung,
 Though its location it is possible to be developed become a tourist attraction, both cultural tourism, nature, camping and others.
To come to the Ai-Renung, a distance of 5 km from Batu Tering (30 km from Sumbawa Besar).

4.SITE OF LUTUK STONE

 Named lutuk stone coffin Because there is such a stone coffin (sarcophagus) which is located above the edge of the hill. This Top of hill called by the community as lutuk stone coffin.
Location was in the northwest of the hamlet village of Kuang-Amo Sempe Moyohulu district. The distance is estimated to 6 km from Kuang-Amo, since taken two hours on foot.
According to the experts who had come to do research to this Site, the age sarkopag estimated to have more than 2500 years, together with age of Tarakin Site.

5. SITE TARAKIN

Location Tarakin somewhat more distant from the Sites of Lutuk Stone and not in the direction of the Kuang-Amo. Tarakin located west of Kuang-Amo, by the way 3 hours which is about 9 km above the mountain Tarakin.

6. SITE RABORAN.

Site Raboran also sarkopag, but due to lack of knowledge and understanding of society to make it as famous Site. Located not far from the village of Sebasang Moyo Hulu Sub- District. Raboran used to be an isolated village on the slopes of the mountain.

7. TEMANG DONGAN SITE



At first site is called Stone Babung Temang Dongan, Stone Balo, Ai Paya, but after a few times the survey was found in all the Sites is located sarkopag spread on top of the mountain of Temang Dongan, so the archaeologists from Denpasar Archaeological Institute named the site as a site Temang Dongan. Temang Dongan located approximately 4 km south of the Village of Pugkit –Lape – Sub- District. To reach the object, preferably as high as 150 meters up the mountain through the southern slope. At the top of the south that's sarcophagus that had thousands of years old was lying on the mainland. The view  from the top of Temang Dongan really interesting because it presents the beauty of nature. From that place we could see the glint of water reservoirs Batu Bulan.
For the future development of tourism, Temang Dongan site provides a promising prospect.

8. SITE OF BATU TATA.


BATU TATA SITE is located in Punik - Batu Dulang-Sub-District. One kilometer before reaching punik right path, go through coffee plantations population 200 m north of the highway lay a stone.
From its shape, perhaps the stone is a menhir, or place of worship ancestral spirits. The Locals call it stone inlay because there is the human form (human crotch) on one side. But until now no one has found people who appreciate it as Objects of Cultural


9. SITE KALIMANGO

In the book of "Sumbawa of the Past" by Lalu Manca mentioned ... ... .... "As a sign of the kingdom of Goa sent bushing Batu Pasak and Ranga Batu Pasak, and pins with a stone that is now stuck in pestilence Ree (Gunung Batu Lante) ... ... ... ..."
After a proper survey in the eastern mountain slopes of pestilence Ree Batu Batu Lante undiscovered Batu Pasak that mentioned by Lalu Manca, but instead found several different sarkopags then else has ever been found in Sumbawa.
Until now this has not been done intensive research on Kalimango site due to the difficulty of transportation. But actually kalimango can follow two tracks. One is through the village Mokong, because it is located in the village of Upper Mokong Moyo District 3 hours walk west from the Mokong. Neither the District Kereke Sumbawa through the village towards the south can also be reached about three hours on foot.

10. BATU GONG SITE

Its location can be visited with four-wheel vehicles, farm road through the village of Setoe Brang Utan District. 1 km from the intersection of the west bridge Utan north, residents in the garden lay a stone shaped six gongs. According to residents, before, the rock gongs were eights, but now many stolen. Objects are much visited by some people who believe in its spirit. But because there was no interpreter Maintained there are some people that have stolen the sites, or perhaps moved by people.
